Year's End

Unfortunately, we will not celebrate this final day of 2011 as planned.  John's ailing with a cold or allergies or whatever, and we're hesitant to be out,  spreading it among friends.  So it's a quiet, if not quite peaceful, last day of 2011 here at Finally Farm.  It's been a great year, with lots of family, friends, and fun to make it so...and we think 2012 will only be better!

On a personal note, I rarely make resolutions; my lack of will power supply is legend.  If I do, it's something easily achieved...'I will give up cinammon'.  I recently heard a fellow talking about how people set themselves up to fail with new year resolutions.  They vow to lose 30 lbs by summer, go to church every Sunday, stop smoking, help others, or exercise each day.  Promises like these leave folks discouraged when they fail to accomplish that goal.  The speaker advocates a 'kinder/gentler' approach.  He suggests simply thinking of a word or words to focus on in the coming year...perhaps words like health, volunteer, grow stronger, eat local, grow spiritually, read books, save, etc.  So for this year, my word is happy. I want to be it, and I want to spread it. I will try...

Happy New Year.
